Beijing Arrivals · Chengdu Departures
9 Days & 8 Nights — Private · Custom Itinerary
Moderate. The longest walk is the Forbidden City on the morning of day two; at the Great Wall the site's cable car or open chairlift does the climbing; Jingshan is a short walk uphill with no cable car.
Most nine-day plans try to hold four cities. This one holds three, and gives the third one an afternoon in a chair. Beijing is the capital of the last empire and you walk one straight line through it. Xi'an is the capital of the first, and most of it is still underground. Chengdu was never a capital at all, which is exactly why the trip can put its feet up there. Two afternoon trains do the moving, so you unpack three times in nine days and never at dawn. You'll come home able to say why a country that drew its capital as a straight line gives whole afternoons away to sitting still.
— LyrikTrip travel designers
Every LyrikTrip journey begins with a conversation. Tell us your dates, who is coming and what time you fly out of Chengdu. First reply within four hours; a clear price for your dates within one business day. On this route we will also tell you plainly where the hotel list, the rail cabin class and the December opening conditions stand, before you are asked for anything.
Your driver meets the flight, whatever hour it lands. The nine days begin tomorrow, on the axis.
The palace on foot, in one line. Then the hill that shows you what you just walked.
The whole day goes north for one thing. Walk the line an empire drew across its mountains.
Three stops on one axis, then the afternoon train west. You leave Beijing carrying the backstory for Xi'an.
One site, one day, on purpose. Meet the men who were made to keep an emperor company.
Two hours on top of the wall, then an evening at street level. You get old Xi'an twice: from above, then from inside.
A slow morning at the foot of a brick tower. Then the mountains that separate northern China from the south.
Pandas while they are awake. Then a chair, for as long as you want it.
The last day stays in the city until the afternoon. You leave with one thing still unexplained.

A few things on this route follow the calendar, the season or an operator's confirmation. Here they are, told straight.
Fewer than nine days?
The three cities come apart cleanly: Beijing and Xi'an stand on their own, and Chengdu can go. We cut a city rather than cut the nights, because a shortened Xi'an would put you at the pits and the wall on the same day. Tell us your dates and who is coming.
