Your week in Shenzhen has been spent among exhibition stands and meeting rooms. Yet the city that manufactures the exhibits is just a twenty-minute drive away. This itinerary begins in the hour after the closing conference, introducing you to the supply chain behind your purchases through three perspectives: a market floor where components are sold by the pallet, the shipping addresses for finished machines, and street traffic where autonomous vehicles are already in circulation. In between lies a walled-village old town with a history of some 1,700 years, situated in a city that is only about forty years old. Day one and day three end early, leaving your evenings free. By the time you reach the second level, you will view your purchase orders with fresh eyes.

Special Notes
A few things on this route follow your schedule, an operator's schedule or the weather. Here they are, told straight.
- Start time — Day One has no fixed start time: it begins when the closing ceremony ends. This time will be confirmed with you for each booking, including whether the morning of the closing day is occupied by the exhibition teardown; do not assume it follows the trade fair calendar.
- Robotaxi — Included in the base fare and bookable by date, with final confirmation required prior to arrival. Availability is subject to the operator. Should the service be suspended on the day, this item will be cancelled without a substitute activity, and the first day will be shortened by approximately one hour. Pricing adjustments in such circumstances are explicitly stated in the written quote.
- Drone show — Included in the base price as a conditional item. It is only held when availability permits and weather is suitable; October–December 2026 slots have not yet been confirmed with the operator, so they must not be listed as secured. For dates without a show, an evening tour of the Civic Centre area is offered in its place at the same price.
- Shenzhen Science Museum — sold as an add-on only, quoted separately, never bundled and never counted as one of this plan's reasons to come. It takes about two of the four hours the departure morning holds, so we check it against your flight before you choose. Without it, day three is the creative park alone, which suits an early flight.
- Two guests, two names — the number of guests your quote covers is stated in writing on that quote, and no order is taken without it in writing.
- Hotels & venues — named in your confirmation; "or similar" always means the same class and comparable location, never a quiet downgrade.

Do this before you fly
VPN & Internet Access
What's blocked
Google, Gmail, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, and most Western news sites are inaccessible in China without a VPN.
Download before you leave
It's nearly impossible to download a VPN once inside China. Install and test at home. Recommended: Astrill (most reliable), Mullvad, ExpressVPN — subscribe to at least two in case one stops working.
Hotel Wi-Fi tip
Some hotels block VPN connections on their Wi-Fi. Use your phone's mobile data as a hotspot if the VPN drops.
Good news
WhatsApp works perfectly through a VPN, so your messaging stays unchanged. Apple iMessage and Signal also work.

China is cashless
Alipay and WeChat Pay are used for almost everything — restaurants, taxis, markets, tickets. Cash is rarely accepted in cities.

Do you need a visa?
Most US, UK, EU, Australian, Canadian, and New Zealand passport holders need a tourist (L) visa for stays over 10 days. We provide a visa invitation letter with every booking — it significantly speeds up approval.
240-hour visa-free transit
Citizens of 55+ countries (including USA, UK, most of EU, AUS, NZ, Canada) can enter China visa-free for up to 10 days if transiting through eligible ports. This covers our 12-day itinerary only if you have a confirmed onward flight.
Processing time
Apply 4–6 weeks before departure. Standard processing: 4–7 business days. Express (3 days) and same-day options available at most Chinese consulates.

Safety & Practical Tips
Is China safe?
China consistently ranks among the safest countries for foreign tourists. Violent crime against visitors is extremely rare. Cities have extensive CCTV coverage and a visible police presence.
Emergency numbers
Police: 110. Ambulance: 120. Your concierge is your first call for any non-emergency situation — she has local contacts for every city on the itinerary.
Health & medications
Bring a full supply of any prescription medication. International pharmacies exist in major cities but may not carry your brand. Travel insurance is required — we can recommend policies that cover China specifically.
Language
English fluency outside hotels and tourist sites is limited. Your guides all speak English. We provide a printed pocket card with essential Chinese phrases and emergency contacts for every traveller.
Before You Book
Everything worth knowing before you book.
Yes: day one has no fixed start. Your driver waits, the market walk shortens first, and the two days after it do not depend on that afternoon. We set the day one start time with you when you book, not from a calendar.
Two, and both are already paid for in your price. The Robotaxi ride runs on a public operator's service, so if that service is suspended on your date the ride does not run: nothing replaces it and day one finishes about an hour earlier, with the price treatment for that case written into your quote. The drone show runs only on scheduled dates and in suitable weather, and the late-2026 schedule is not confirmed yet: on an evening without one you get the lit cityscape around Shenzhen Civic Center instead, at no change in price. Everything else on the plan is under our own arrangement.
We check before you take payment, not after. UK, European and Canadian passports currently enter China visa-free for days, and so do Australian and New Zealand passports. The window is counted from the day after entry, so your clock started when you flew in for the fair. We add your entry date, your fair days and these three days together against that window. If the total does not fit, we tell you and do not sell the plan.
Day one and day three end before dinner and nothing is scheduled after them. Day two is the exception: the drone show or the lit cityscape takes that evening, which is why it sits on day two rather than the night your inbox is fullest. If you would rather keep that evening too, tell us and we drop it.
No: day three holds one visit of about two hours plus your airport transfer, so it is built to be cut. Take the creative park and go straight to the airport, and the morning still works. The optional museum is the part that needs a later flight, which is why it is only offered once we have seen your flight time.
