But if you are coming for the first-timer admission waiver, this needs saying plainly: Shanghai has zero attractions in the published catalogue. Pudong or Hongqiao? Airports and getting into the city
For Hangzhou or any high-speed rail connection, Hongqiao wins; for Shanghai alone, either works.

Maglev: Longyang Road to Pudong takes about eight minutes, CNY 50 one way, or CNY 40 with a same-day boarding pass.
One practical note: check transport times before a late arrival at Pudong. The airport line, metro and maglev all stop earlier than you'd expect — don't estimate from daytime schedules. On departure, allow two and a half to three hours; gambling your boarding time to save on a taxi is the worst trade available.

Wuzhen is out; Xitang and Nanxun are in
The Jiangnan water towns are not uniformly listed. Line by line:

Leave on Friday, add the weekend, and one day off covers three days. Shanghai is compact; you don't need to travel far.

Pick one accommodation area: People's Square / Nanjing East Road, Jing'an Temple, or Lujiazui. The classic first-visit mistake is staying too far out and spending the trip changing trains — being near the metro and your itinerary usually beats a slightly cheaper room.

Zhejiang has 134 listed attractions and 19 5A sites — more than any other province — including Yandang Mountain, Tiantai Mountain, Shenxianju and the Yunhe Rice Terraces.
So the right way to extend a Shanghai trip is south into Zhejiang, not west into Jiangsu — the opposite of the traditional Shanghai-plus-Suzhou pairing.

Two — relying on a single payment method. Alipay, WeChat Pay and physical cards can each fail in some situation. A little cash for deposits, small shops and system outages is the cheapest insurance available.
Three — the wrong airport. Landing at Pudong when you need the Hangzhou train means a long detour.
Four — forcing Disney into three days. Disney deserves a full day; squeezing it into a three-day trip shrinks everything else.
